#2 Breaking News over a 24 hour period

Introduction

Many things can happen within a 24-hour period also known as breaking news. Breaking news can have various topics based on fashion , health concerns, over an incident that happened at your local grocery store. Without breaking news, we would potentially never know what is ‘trending’ or what is going on in the world because the topics wouldn’t be spotlighted or held to an important urgency.

Brief

In early January of 2023, a college student by the name of Jaahnavi Kandula was tragically hit by a police car while attempting to cross the street. The incident is now in the media due to the aftermath of her death.

Jaahnavi Kandula’s death was no accident according to TimesNowNews.com that stated policeman Kevin Dave was speeding past Jaahnavi on a overdose call to which he hit the victim and proceeded on his task. The police car was accelerated at a speed of 74 miles per hours when he almost instantly killed her. 

Another reason that the story is going mainstream is due to the lack of empathy that the officer and his partner had for the young lady as well as the issue being under investigation. It was even said that the opposing officers were laughing about the occurrence.

Conclusion

To add, the two opposing officers did not report the incident in the time that it happened  because 

She was 26 anyway…she had limited value.

I assumed that they felt like her life didn’t matter because it was also said that 

She was just a regular person.

Sadly, Ms. Kandula was actually an international student from India who was in the pursuit of obtaining a Masters Degree at Northeastern University so that she could return home to support her mother. 

The impact the collision had on her body did not allow her to even make it to the facility before her passing. 

The Media

Recent reports including in media of the handling of Ms Jaahnavi Kandula’s death in a road accident in Seattle in January are deeply troubling. We have taken up the matter strongly with local authorities in Seattle & Washington State as well as senior officials in Washington DC

Since this tragedy has been popping up in the last 24 hours, it has reached many saddened others, and mostly disappointed the rest. President Joe Biden’s Administration has even put out an statement to India’s Ambassador.

The incident is being taken very seriously  

 

Conclusion

Her mother will forever grieve her child and the emotionless officers actions. The poor mother has since left her home due to this. I hope in due time, officers are taught to have compassion for us ‘regular people’, and take our 911 calls, abuse, or even cry for help seriously. 

Great Job to government for assigning BodyCams to police officers, because without this strong evidence, Ms. Kandula would have never got the justice that she rightly deserved!
