#10 Listening Posts

 

Introduction

The topic of Listening Posts has sparked my interest incredibly. After such research, I have found the perfect definition that resonates with my opinion and can be easily understood. 

A listening post is a place or opportunity to hear about what's going on , or perhaps sources of insight - productfocus

Brief

The information that I normally receive is from social media as well as word-of-mouth. It usually happens like this :

Friend:  Did you see on Tik Tok that Blueface proposed to Chrisean

Me: Nope, I didn't see that, but that crazy considering...

Friend: What do you think about it because girl, he does not want her. He's only doing that because he's mad that Chrisean made that diss song with that boy.

Me: (Researches topic)  (Giving the baby mama a little faith lol)  Yeah, that sounds about right, but you never know since they have been together for almost 10 years. It could be possible that he's doing both.

Friend: Girl, you're pissing me off. No ma'am.

Me: Okay, that's fine lol.

The situation above is usually one of the ways of how I hear about what's going on in my community as well as in the world. I first listen to all perspectives on certain topics whether that's through social media or word-of-mouth, and then I research or look up the topic that I can be familiarized with it during discussing it with whomever I'm talking to.

Another thing to include is that if my parents aren't binge-watching a series, they are often lying around watching the weather and/or listening to the news on channel 7. It is often that I pop by their room to talk and end up sitting in the recliner like an old lady just listening along. I assume that you can say there is some kind of unintentional influence that occurred when I entered their room.

To add, the information that I receive is often broad because I love to hear others perspectives to which I get from my parents, peers my age, friends and cousins that are much older than me, grandfather that lives in the DMV area, saints at church, and sometimes my 12 year old brother. 

Conclusion

Ultimately, my listening posts are very broad!
