Why not a dog? Being afraid of dogs always steered me away from owning one until I lived in a dorm where everyone had animals, and from there my love grew!

Brief

Chance is a loving house dog that I got when he was only one month old from a family

member. Since, I have taught him to sit to receive a treat as well as ringing a bell that informs me that he has to use the restroom.

Introduction

The Wild Card topic that I will be discussing is yet another Listening Post, but from the outlook of a substitute teacher . A Listening Post is simply describes as where and how information is received.

Brief

                                                                                                                                                                 

Being a substitute teacher is not a easy task, but it is rewarding. I get to learn about why students behave the way that they do and more importantly I gain information about the workplace and the students from the school itself.

Morning

Entering the school, I am instructed to sign in through the office to which I hear all the talk about which instructor is absent from the job today and perhaps which student will be getting checked out of school early for a doctors appointment or maybe being sick.

Once I enter the classroom, I read the lesson plans that were left by the teacher in order to conduct the school day. As the children do their work, I able to learn about them though the discussions that they are having with their peers about how Misses such and such wrote them a referral yesterday and is a not kind word and how the hairstyle that they have is trash.

Recess

Towards the middle of the school day, recess begins. Nowadays, children are give two privileges of attending recess so the information overload is at its greatest. I get the opportunity to hear about how the day is going for other educators with their classes, and the latest news of who is missing their recess due to behavior. It can only be imagined of the type of topics and reasons that I've heard regarding those who sadly have to miss all or some of their playing time.

Another topic that is trending on the playground is beauty and fashion. As an educator, the fashion norm is becoming more relaxed and not as stagnate to being business casual. For instance, me and another teacher were talking about the different bluejeans that they had for sale at a local store in Camden called the Perfects Boutique since they can only wear jeans on Fridays. 

End of Day

The end of the day is where all the chaos happens, not really though. In other words, the wrap up with the school day consists of who is riding what bus due to who they live with on the weekend or during the week. With the information given, the student will explore the circumstances of which transportation they will be utilizing today as well as the route on how to get there.

Conclusion

Ultimately, the job is very tedious and being on top of things is what will keep one sane. Overall, I love the job, guidance from my coworkers on life, and the pay is week and flexible, cheers!

Introduction

The classmates blog that I chose to critique was Austin Adair. I chose his blog for a purpose of his blog site having a clean straightforward approach to it

Brief

Below it is a screenshot of one his blogpost that I enjoyed that talked of Campus Hard News or Features. As seen, he has a very simple writing style that includes indention's before each big statement or  paragraph as well as the time stamps that he includes in his writing without it sounding too much like a long essay that goes on forever. 

Conclusion

To add, I was very impressed by him being a guy that his writing as well as his formatting is the same throughout his posts and the text isn't jumble on top of one another.

Since there are ample news worthy applications on the internet, I wanted to explore a not-so-popular application. The unique software that was chosen is inkl.  

 

Brief 

 

Inkl is an Australian based news source that was launched in 2014 by the originator Gautam Mishra. The program was created to provide news to viewers about international news in a more realistic manner that is easily to be understood by anyone. 

 

Subscription Prices 

Just like the NewYorkTimes, there is subscription fee that must be made in order to access their content. The plus with inkl is that they allow its users a 7-day free trial to test out the application or site in order to see if it is worth the money.  

 

The subscriptions rates are below as provided by gadgetguy.com: 

• 100 articles for $10 
• $15/month ( all content except for Wall Street Journal and Barron's) 
• $25/month (all content) 

 

To add, once the free trial ends, inkl does not automatically make a charge to a banking institution, but instead you may delete the app without being punished. 

 

Outlook on the site and app 

 

Once you type the site inkl, in a generated search engine this is what is shown. It has a very modern approach to the website while also evoking a dark themed approach similar to a newspaper. The hint of orange through the action buttons as well as highlighted links further supports the claim of being modern and not dull.  

 

In addition,  the typeface Georgia is shown to which is a serif typeface that is elegant, but yet a 30 year old font.   

                                     
              

The app has a similar look and feel, but in a condensed and smaller version for mobile devices. 

 

Conclusion

As stated before, inkl has a modern approach with the pops of orange and adding a drop cap (large capital letter used in the beginning of a paragraph), acts a call of action, to start her and bring eyes towards the huge letter.

Opinions really matter, especially when that opinion is based on the community that I live in. In this perspective, I will be discussion my opinion on a situation that is going on in the little state of Arkansas.

According to euronews.com , a law has been passed to protect farm animals from harm or complaints made by new neighbors or existing ones.  

Brief 

The outpouring of reports have previously been made against those who own farm animals that are crowing, barking, making loud noises ,or even their restroom duties smell. Frances high officials have decided to cease the unwarranted complaints and make it harder to submit a grievance unless it is urgent or danger inflicted. 

 

I honestly feel as though this is valid. If someone moves to the country side, it should be inferred that farmers or farm-like animals live in these areas as they would not want be a bother in city limits with greater amounts of citizens. Therefore they move to the country to raise cattle and live a less discriminatory lifestyle.

 

Conclusion 

To add, it is not possible to stop an animal from expressing themselves even if reprimanded. Animals are animals and howling, barking, or making and kind of noises play a major role in how they communicate. No one would want their communication cut off or made to feel as though it is a nuisance.
